Why do you care about songwriting as a craft and why do you care about building the TERRA Community? What does it all mean to you?

I care deeply about songwriting as a craft - not only for the art itself, but for the emotional release it offers. Songwriting helps us process life and turn our experiences into beauty. It’s one of the most healing and transformative things we can do.

I care about building the TERRA community because I’ve seen firsthand how powerful it is to gather people of all levels who are serious about growing in their craft. Whether it’s a retreat or an online group, the TERRA ecosystem fosters curiosity, vulnerability, and artistic courage. I want to help keep that energy alive and accessible to as many people as possible.

Have you had a mentor in the past? How do you think that affects your perspective as a mentor?

Yes, I’ve had a few mentors over the years, and they’ve shaped me in huge ways. The best ones helped me recognize that my good looks different from someone else’s good - that I bring my best work when I’m most authentically myself.

Having a mentor helped me see both my blind spots and my instincts more clearly. It gave me permission to trust my gut while also staying open to growth. Art can feel like a blank canvas, exciting but also overwhelming, and a mentor helps you navigate that space without losing your voice. I’d love to offer that kind of grounding presence for others.

What are you proud of in your songwriting and how can that help others build the same strengths?

I’m proud of my ability to write quickly and intuitively - to capture something deep and real without getting too precious about it. I’ve built a large catalog of songs, and that’s taught me to hold things with open hands. Every song doesn’t have to be the one; there’s always more music waiting to be written.

That mindset: creating freely without perfectionism, is something I hope to help others develop. It keeps the joy and flow in songwriting alive.

What do you think your standout skills are for mentoring?

I’ve been an indie artist for over a decade, and I make my living as a full-time music producer working with artists of all genres and experience levels. That means I can meet people where they’re at - whether they’re just starting to find their sound or refining a nearly finished record.

Beyond that, I care deeply about the human connection and legacy behind the art. I know how vulnerable it is to create something personal and put it into the world. My job as a mentor is to honor that process, help artists see what makes them special, and give them practical steps to move their vision forward.

What skills outside of songwriting would you like to share?

I’d love to help artists think about creative structure - how to break out of ruts, design limitations that spark inspiration, and shape their songs into cohesive bodies of work (EPs, albums, or larger projects).

I can also share insights around production, arranging, and collaboration, since I work in those spaces every day. Helping someone translate a rough idea into a finished piece, both emotionally and technically, is one of my favorite things.
