The TERRA Deck is forty songwriting constraints in four suits, built for the writing rooms at TERRA retreats and now ready for yours.
Draw a card when you sit down to write. It won’t tell you what the song is about. It tells you what you can’t do, which is often where the song shows up. Every card has an upright reading and a reversed one, so shuffle some upside down and let chance decide.
The four suits:
Voice: who is singing, and to whom
Form: the shape the song takes
Language: the words you’re allowed
Sound: what the music has to do
Each suit also includes two blank cards for writing your own.
What you get: a print-at-home PDF with all forty cards, eight blanks, matching card backs, and a printing guide. Print double-sided on eight sheets of letter-size cardstock and cut along the lines. Cards are 2.5 by 4.5 inches.
This is a digital download. Nothing will be shipped.
